Thookka Pachor Nercha

Kneeling Vows

A vow fulfilled by walking around the church on one's knees and palms. Devotees circle the church in this posture as an act of thanksgiving and petition through the intercession of St. Yeldo Mar Baselios. Contact the church office for guidance.

Tender Coconut (Karikku)

കരിക്ക് വഴിപാട്

When St. Yeldo Bava arrived at Chakkalakkudi in 1685, a Nair youth told him of his sister's difficult labour. Through a miracle the saint plucked a tender coconut from a dry palm, blessed it, and gave it to the youth; his sister drank it and was delivered safely. From this arose the tradition of offering tender coconuts (karikku) at the saint's shrine — especially by those seeking safe childbirth. Contact the church office for details.

A centuries-old tradition at Cheriapally: devotees stay at the church in scripture reading and prayer. Today, many still observe fasts and spend 3, 5, 7, or 12 days here. For those facing hardships, this practice brings comfort and peace. Contact the church office to arrange a stay.
